Sparkling vintage beauties from
bygone era rolled out on the streets of New Delhi on Sunday as the
44th Statesman Vintage and Classic Car Rally was flagged off by
Lieutenant-Governor Tejendra Khanna.


The
rally commenced from the city's majestic Statesman House building,
travelling all the way to Greater Noida before returning to the rail
Museum for Prize distribution.
"Statesman Vintage & Classic car rally is the oldest &
biggest vintage car rally in India & we are elated at this
year,s response, including 33 first time participants and a total of
127 entries. People are out on the roads, cheering everyone and
making it a special moment for the owners who work so hard in order
to restore these timeless beauties. This year,s sponsors &
partners included Indian Oil, Red Bull, Heritage Motoring Club of
India, Rail Museum, Vintage Club of India, Exide Batteries, Danieli
Engineering, Zee Business, amongst others," said Rahul Mitra,
CEO Brandsmith & the exclusive promotions & event partner of
this niche event since 2004.
As old beauties like Dodge 1939, Jaguar 1932, Austin 1922, Lagonda
1934, MG 1949, Lincoln 1954, Chevrolet 1927, Ford Consul 1936,
Belvedere 1942, and Ford 1938 convertible made their way on the
road, they demanded attention and admiration from the vintage car
connoisseurs. Ford, Austin, Bentleys, Minervas, majestic Rolls
Royces, classy Plymouth, Fiat, Chevrolet, Buick, Jaguars and a 1914
John Morris, were some of the other cars participating in the rally.
Participants along with their family members & special invitees
enjoyed a laid back sunny Sunday afternoon at the lovely YMCA lawns
over food and beverages as well known band Black Slade belted out
popular western numbers.
